Speak up

How to report a serious concern about wrongdoing connected with Payble, and how we protect you when you do.

Draft, not yet reviewed by our lawyers

This page is written from Nigerian law and the regulators' published rules, but our lawyers have not yet reviewed it, so it may change before it takes effect.

If you see something at Payble or MyPayble Technologies Limited that is dishonest, illegal or dangerous, we want to hear it, and from us you will have protection for having said so. This applies to our staff, our field sales representatives, contractors, suppliers, partners, customers and anyone else.

What to report

A serious concern about something that has happened, is happening or is likely to happen. For example:

  • fraud, theft, bribery or corruption;
  • money laundering or the financing of terrorism, or helping someone avoid identity checks;
  • misuse of a customer's money, or of anyone's personal data;
  • a field sales representative or member of staff taking cash they should not hold, asking for a PIN or one-time code, or asking for money to sign someone up;
  • breaking the law or a regulator's rules, or hiding a serious mistake;
  • harassment, abuse or discrimination;
  • a danger to someone's health or safety.

A problem with a payment, a fee or the service is a complaint, not a concern about wrongdoing. Use our complaints policy for that, and if you work with us and have a personal grievance, raise it with your manager or with our people team.

How to speak up

  • Email support@mypayble.com, with "Speak up" in the subject line.
  • Post: "Speak up", MyPayble Technologies Limited, Plot 654 Sani Abacha Way, by FCDA/NTA HQRS, Area 11, Garki, Abuja, Nigeria. Mark it "Private and confidential".

Say what happened, when, where and who was involved, and include any evidence you have. Tell us how to reach you if you are willing to be contacted. You can report anonymously, but it is harder for us to look into a concern, and to tell you what happened, if we cannot ask you questions.

You do not need proof. You only need to believe honestly that what you are reporting is true. Please do not investigate it yourself and do not share more of anyone's personal data than you have to.

How we protect you

  • No retaliation. We will not dismiss, demote, threaten, treat unfairly, cancel a contract with, or block the Representative ID of anyone who speaks up honestly, even if the concern turns out to be mistaken. Anyone at Payble who does so faces disciplinary action, up to dismissal or ending their contract.
  • Confidentiality. We keep your identity to the smallest group of people who need it to look into the concern, and we will not reveal it without your agreement unless the law or a regulator requires us to. If that ever happens we will tell you first where we can.
  • Honesty is what we protect. Knowingly making a false report to harm someone is a serious matter and can be treated as one.

This page is a promise we make to you. It is in addition to, and does not replace, any protection the law gives you.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge it within five working days, if we can reach you.
  2. Someone independent looks into it. If the concern involves the person who would normally handle it, it goes to a more senior person, or to the board, instead.
  3. We act. That may mean putting a stop to it, changing how we work, disciplining someone, reporting it to a regulator or the authorities, or deciding there is nothing to act on.
  4. We tell you what we can. We will tell you the outcome as far as confidentiality and the law allow, and keep the record private.

Reporting outside the company

You are always free to go straight to an authority, and you do not have to come to us first. Depending on the concern:
